Germany & Czech Republic 20/09 to 28/09 1997 "Can you tell me the way to the Brewpub?"

A two person trip to Germany with a day-trip to Prague thrown in, Me (Poodle) & Betty (David Icke - no not THAT David Icke - the other one!) We would be joining up with Neath (Steve Thomas) and Bonty (Clive Muspratt) for most of the trip. # again denotes New Loco. We certainly kept the Kobes busy as the beer comes in 0.2litre "Test Tubes" & we are more used to drinkin...

Belgium Weekend Trip 28 & 29 May 1994 "Do You Want a Lock-In?"

Image
A weekend sociable trip to travel around Belgium and drink Beer, I'd always treated the country as somewhere you had to travel across to get from the Ferry to Germany, until one Sunday on the return from Germany we covered the Canoe trains out of Namur - and that was our main objective (train wise) on this trip. The participants were Myself (Poodle), Tim Reiner (Reinersaurus), Brian York (Yorkie) and Richard Stirk (Stirk). Saturday 28/05/94 You normally drank in Dover before the overnight Ferry, didn't drink on the boat as too wedged with loud normal's, then you had about 2 hours to kill in Oostende before the first Koln service at 0532. I personally walked 5 minutes or so to The Titanic, a bar with about 12 beers on tap, open 24 hours including doing food all night. It still amazes me how the bar staff in there never wrote anything down but I never saw them get an order wrong! 1503 looking rather smart at Oostend. Always a good start to get a run behind one of ...

Germany August 04th to 18th 1990 - A Blast from the Past

Image
Only my second trip to Germany, a three pronged attack on the Diesels of DB by myself (Poodle) my brother (Puppy) & John "Zuzzy Hell" Sandham. The usual remit of as many diesel locos and new lines during daylight hours then electrics to get in place for the overnight.(New locos again denoted by #). Saturday 04/08/1990 No boring tales of crossing the channel - the overnight boat from Dover must have been taken as we were on the first departure from Ostend. 1601# Ostend - Liege 0532 Ostend - Koln 227km The impressive 1601 at Liege Guillemins station off the 0532 from Ostend 5530 at Liege on the 0817 to Jemelle 5530#   Liege - Angleur 0817 Liege - Jemelle 6km 5505#)  Angleur - Liege xxxx Jemelle - Liege 6km 5540#) 5505 & 5540 at Liege, we only had them from Angleur. Even on this short leap John nearly went missing after a fruitless search for somewhere to buy a cup of tea outside Angleur station. 1801#      Liege - Koln   ...
